Most ‘detox’ products work in one of two ways: they stimulate your bowels, or they add nutrients that support your liver. What they almost never do is physically bind to the toxins inside your gut and carry them out before your body can reabsorb them.
That’s what a binder does. And it’s fundamentally different from a detox tea, a liver supplement, or a cleanse.
When toxins, whether from heavy metals, pesticides, environmental pollutants, or microbial die-off, enter the digestive tract, your gut wall can reabsorb them back into circulation if nothing intercepts them. This cycle of recirculation is why people can eat well, avoid alcohol, and still carry a significant toxic load. iThrive Detox Binder interrupts this cycle at three stages: binding, mobilising, and protecting the gut lining.
Why three layers matter and what most binder supplements skip:
|
Layer |
What it does |
iThrive formula |
What most binders provide |
|---|---|---|---|
|
Layer 1 - Adsorbents |
Bind toxins inside the digestive tract before gut-wall reabsorption |
Activated charcoal 500mg + Citrus pectin 400mg |
Activated charcoal only |
|
Layer 2 - Mobilisers |
Draw heavy metals from tissue storage into the gut for the binders to capture |
Organic cilantro extract 100mg + Broken cell wall chlorella 250mg |
Absent in most formulas |
|
Layer 3 - Gut protectors |
Soothe and support the intestinal lining during the clearance process |
Aloe vera 50mg + Bamboo extract 75mg |
Absent in most formulas |
Six ingredients. Each one earns its place:
-
Activated Charcoal from Coconut Shell - 500mg: high-surface-area adsorbent that binds positively charged toxins, BPA, pesticide residues, and microbial endotoxins inside the gut before they cross the intestinal wall. Coconut shell source is preferred over wood-based charcoal for higher surface area and purity.
-
Citrus Pectin - 400mg: soluble fibre that chelates heavy metals including lead, mercury, and arsenic in the gut lumen. Also supports gut lining integrity as a prebiotic fibre. Complements charcoal’s broad-spectrum adsorption with specific heavy metal chelation.
-
Organic Chlorella, Broken Cell Wall - 250mg: binds mercury and cadmium, boosts antioxidant enzyme activity, supports detoxification gene expression. The broken cell wall specification is critical as intact cell wall chlorella is largely unabsorbed in the human gut.
-
Organic Cilantro / Coriander Leaf Extract - 100mg: mobilises heavy metals from tissue storage into the digestive tract, enhances bile flow, and supports liver detox enzyme activity. Works upstream of the binders.
-
Bamboo Extract - 75mg: silica-rich botanical supporting connective tissue repair, antioxidant defence, and toxin excretion via the stool.
-
Aloe Vera Leaf Extract - 50mg: soothes intestinal mucosa during clearance, provides antimicrobial activity, reduces intestinal inflammation, and supports gut motility.
When to use Detox Binder:
-
During or after an antimicrobial protocol as when taking iThrive Immune Support, Anti-Fungal Support, or H. Pylori Relief, pathogens and fungi release endotoxins as they die off. A binder taken during this window captures these before they recirculate and cause die-off symptoms of brain fog, fatigue, skin flares. This is the context ALIVE practitioners use it most.
-
For heavy metal and environmental toxin support to combat urban air pollution, water quality concerns, dental amalgam exposure, certain fish consumption patterns, or occupational exposure. Citrus pectin and chlorella are specifically studied for heavy metal clearance.
-
As a daily cleanliness practice take one dose before bed, away from other supplements, for consistent background clearance without a formal protocol.
Six active ingredients. Nothing else.
No magnesium stearate. No silicon dioxide. No artificial colours or preservatives. The only other ingredient is the HPMC vegetarian capsule shell. What’s on the label is what’s in the capsule.
Organic certified chlorella and cilantro. Coconut shell charcoal, not wood-derived. Broken cell wall specification on chlorella not the common intact-wall version that passes through largely unabsorbed.
How to use
Take 2 capsules immediately after waking up on an empty stomach. Do not consume any food, supplements, or medications for a minimum of 35-40 mins after consuming the Detox Binder capsules or take as directed by your healthcare professional. Your healthcare may suggest a different dosage or timing based on your health condition.
The most important timing rule: Activated charcoal is a non-selective adsorbent, so take Detox Binder at least 40 mins before or after all other supplements and medications. Taking it simultaneously will reduce the absorption of everything else you’re taking. Ideally, if you can wait longer than 40 mins, that would make sure that whatever supplement or medication that you're taking gets fully absorbed.
Hydration matters: Activated charcoal can slow bowel transit if water intake is low. The aloe vera in this formula helps maintain gut motility, but adequate hydration is the primary variable.
Can be taken alongside: iThrive Immune Support, Anti-Fungal Support, and H. Pylori Relief as part of a clearance protocol. iThrive Probiotics (2-hour separation) to reseed the gut after clearing. iThrive Detox Tea Blend for upstream liver and kidney support.
Practitioner’s Note
![]() “The reason this formula uses two adsorbents rather than one is that activated charcoal and citrus pectin have different binding profiles. Charcoal is broad-spectrum as it binds a wide range of positively charged toxins, BPA, and microbial endotoxins through adsorption. Citrus pectin targets specifically the heavy metals as lead, mercury, arsenic, through a chelation mechanism that charcoal does not replicate well. Using both gives you coverage across both categories. The mobiliser layer of cilantro and broken cell wall chlorella is what makes this a more complete formula than just a binder. Charcoal can only bind what reaches the gut. Cilantro works upstream, drawing metals stored in tissues into the digestive tract where the binders can then capture them. The broken cell wall specification on the chlorella is non-negotiable for efficacy as intact cell wall chlorella is largely inert in human digestion. Finally, aloe vera and bamboo are not passive additions. Any binder used consistently can cause mild gut lining stress over time. Aloe’s anti-inflammatory and mucosal-soothing activity, and bamboo’s silica-based connective tissue support, address this directly.” Suyash Bhandari |
